Our world is rapidly changing. Technology and economic

development are perhaps the two most visible factors causing

this. In Chongqing we drive across the new bridges linking

formerly distant locations. We use electronic gadgets that

allow us to perform tasks quicker and more efficiently than

ever before. Who would have imagined communicating via

a blog just a few years ago? However, the impact of technology

and development on our lives is increasingly being overshadowed

by something that is in some ways harder to pin down but

whose enormous impact is undeniable – climate change.

Climate change is truly a global issue that impacts on all

individuals regardless of nationality, gender or wealth. It is

shaping our world in ways we sometimes struggle to understand.

In terms of our daily lives, it can seem hard to identify what

changes result from climate change and as a result it is

sometimes ignored. However, in terms of our planet’s “life

cycle” it is happening extremely quickly. Arctic ice and

glaciers are melting, desertification is speeding up and

major floods are increasingly impacting on people in low-lying

areas.

Climate change is already impacting on our planet and

will increasingly affect our behaviour. Around the world

people are beginning to look to make “greener” choices

in their everyday lives. They are attempting to reduce

their “carbon footprint” by travelling in more sustainable

ways [given China’s size, increasing middle class and

rising wealth, is this the right argument?], reducing the

amount of food waste they produce and purchasing more

energy-efficient goods and services. Even our languages

are being shaped by climate change! Who had even

heard of a “carbon footprint” until relatively recently?

Given the importance of climate change, I am delighted

to be launching this blog. It reflects the importance that

Chongqing attaches to this issue. It also reflects the

importance attached to climate change by the UK

Government and the British Consulate General. Our two

Governments are engaged in wide-ranging activities

in Chongqing and SW China to address the challenges

posed by climate change – too many to list on this

blog! Major activities have included seminars on

changing policies to reduce carbon emissions; examining

“green” building techniques; and visits to the UK

by officials from SW China to examine solar power

technology. Chongqing’s “Car Free Day” at the same

time as over 100 other Chinese cities was an

excellent example of an activity that promoted a

low carbon lifestyle.

The UK is keen to continue this work and develop

even closer links with Chongqing. There is much we can

learn from each other. The lessons we both learn in

dealing with our local problems undoubtedly contribute

to body of knowledge on how to tackle this global

challenge. I very much hope this blog will play its part

in raising awareness and generating debate. I hope it

will spark creative ideas and will act as a catalyst for

change. To bring about this change we need to make

personal choices, and in writing this blog today I have

made a new choice. I have decided to ensure that I

will increasingly walk to my appointments in the Jiefang

Bei district in order to reduce my carbon footprint. On

my own my efforts will make only a small difference,

but by acting together we really can make a change.

Talk with the World, Share our Dreams

Good morning, everyone. Today I would like to introduce to you the theme ‘Talk with the World, Share our Dreams’. It is common knowledge that fascinating inventions and thriving technology result from an opulent collaboration of humans’ inspiration and intelligence. Globalization in recent decades further accelerates the phenomenon. This is where we learn that a widespread, cooperative effort drastically surpasses an individual’s influence, and recognize the significance of sharing our dreams to reach a higher ground than commonly perceived to be possible.

During the Second World War, in an exasperating attempt to defeat Hitler and his German troops, and in pursuit of possessing a commanding, fearsome nuclear weapon, the United States initiated the Manhattan Project, consulting the celebrated scientist Albert Einstein and recruiting numerous engineers, physicists, and mathematicians to assemble a group with remarkable intellectual strength in competition with Germany. The ultimate success of this project is through the contributions of many tremendously gifted engineers putting their heads together in favor of another cutting-edge technology – the memorable birth of the atomic bomb, in order to fulfill the dream of world peace. This unforgettable yet outstanding example demonstrates the importance of bringing the world together. Through communication, people cooperate and endeavor in a subsequently equivalent direction, and struggle to bring forth a better, sustainable future.

China, a well-developed country bearing a prosperous economy at present, commenced and developed countless international relationships to encourage an abundance of foreign investment. Establishing a little communication and cooperation with the outside world ultimately prevents the flourishing country from running towards the same direction the solitary North Korea has previously headed. This secures the argument that talking with the world and sharing our dreams lead to immense enhancement and fulfillment of similar dreams.

Numerous countries and individual governments have acknowledged the increasingly serious problem of climate change in recent years. Global warming attacks the planet with mounting effect, heats the atmosphere and radically raises the global mean temperature. The Kyoto Protocol in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change marks the beginning of a universal, comprehensive proposal to remediate global warming. Uniting different nations, partnering masterminds, and amalgamating various technologies brings us closer to achieving our dreams and relieving the spotted problems.

Mankind may be comprised of different races, genders, cultures, countries, and countless types of unthinkable differentiation blended with countless types of outrageous, unreasonable discrimination, but one thing remains true – ‘Talk with the World, Share our Dreams’, with history, these seemingly inconsequential words are wisdom in literal forms. ‘Talk with the World, Share our Dreams’, and may we all march towards a better future. 2，看汉语，试着翻译成英语，对照英语，看自己不同的地方，并把专业的表达背下来。反过来也是，积累表达法是关键，开始会很慢，随着对于词句的表达的积累，会越来越顺

3，有专门的口译词汇，之外再在学习过程中不断的补充

4，口译和笔译学习方法和技能差异都比较大，笔译可以作为口译的基础，但口译的技能笔译上用不上，反之亦然

5，相对应试来说4回答过了，笔译可以帮你夯实基础，资深的议员都有着丰富的笔译经验，在这个漫长的过程中会积累很多地道的表达，文化背景知识
